When the summer heat hits don’t stop fishing, just change your tactics. When it rains during the spring or summer the rain oxygenates the water and the bass as well as baitfish come to the surface to breathe the fresh and cooler water. This gives them a burst of energy and they go into feeding mode. When both the bait and the predators are in the same area, it is on, and you need to be ready!
One of the trickiest things to do when you first start out fishing, or even if you’ve been fishing for a long time, is to pick a lure color that you think will be eagerly snatched up by hungry bass. Lures look awesome at the store in the nice packaging, but when you start fishing them and haven’t had much luck, you blame your lure choice, and your confidence begins to sink.
I have been interested in portable fish finders ever since I first started kayak fishing. Deep lakes with no visible cover can be very hard to fish without electronics, such as Lake Norman in North Carolina. One of the biggest attractants to this unit in particular is the ease of use and portability that allows you to transfer this between fishing from shore, to a pier, to a kayak.
GoPro has already made the point that their cameras are almost essential for any fisherman’s day on the water. The fact that they’re waterproof and durable, while still capturing quality video makes it an easy choice. However, there was a little hesitation in the GoPro community when the Hero Session was released. Could this little camera really live up to the hype of its predecessors?
The first thing that comes to mind when you see a Yeti is just how thick and solid it looks. It seems overkill for a cooler, and it is, but then again most coolers only keep ice for about a day. I’ve had the opportunity over the last several weeks to review Yeti’s most popular cooler, the Tundra 45. It is the perfect size for storage and portability and it really just is an awesome all around cooler.
As an avid fisherman I have had the opportunity, or rather the need, to purchase a variety of high quality fishing shirts not only to look awesome while fishing but also because the material and UV protection really make a difference while out on the water. By that I mean faster drying, non-chaffing, and just overall just a more comfortable shirt.
