What is the Best Knife for Fishing? 553 350 BassGrab

What is the Best Knife for Fishing?

Knives are invaluable when you’re out on the water. They can chop up bait, cut your line, and save your life. Here are some recommendations I have based on real world kayak fishing experience. These are all knives I have personally bought and used while fishing and they are excellent!

TRAC Portable Aerator 620 350 BassGrab

TRAC Portable Aerator

Portable aerators are exactly what you need to keep bait alive. They provide water-flow and oxygen into your bait tank and help everything stay lively to attract more fish. Most portable aerators on the market are actually bubblers which provide oxygen in the water but don’t actually create flow. The cool thing about the Trac aerator is that it can provide flow or spray water across the surface.

Williamson Curved Fillet Knife

Williamson is a part of Rapala and they develop lures and fishing tools. I was fortunate enough to be able to work with their 10” curved fillet knife this past weekend and I was very impressed with the cutting power and rigidity that it provided. My first impression of this fillet knife was that I could use it to fillet a 15 foot bull shark.

Triple Eight Professional has a variety of small performance knives that are great for everyday use. Their knives feature a Patent Pending T8P Spinner Action opening system, which is one of the most unique, safe, and functional systems that I have had the opportunity to work with.

In our search for a rugged fishing knife, Gerber has submitted their AO F.A.S.T. 3.0 for review. The knife features a spring-assisted one-handed opening with Gerber’s patented Forward Action Spring Technology, as well as a heavy duty design; both of which are contained in a surprisingly portable and lightweight knife.
