Best Stocking Stuffers for Kayak Fishing
It’s almost time to get your favorite kayak angler gifts for Christmas. Or maybe you’re a kayak angler trying to find good ideas for your family. Either way, we made a short list of great ideas for kayak fishing stocking stuffers!
We wrote about this can cooler earlier in the year. It is still one of our favorites. I recommend any of the Toadfish Non-Tipping Can Coolers for anyone who likes to keep their drink cold and upright. It goes on a golf cart, lawnmower, hood of your car, kayak, boat, counter, desk, fridge, and basically anywhere else. It’s a fun gift to show off to your friends and everyone who I have given them to is impressed. It’s worth it. To top it all off, Toadfish gives back a portion of its profits to putting oysters back in the ocean to help clean our waters. 10/10 product.
Wyoming Whiskey has produced a special 92 proof national parks whiskey that benefits the National Parks Foundation and sues proceeds to help protect these outdoors areas. The whiskey is only aged 5 years as you can tell from the clear amber color, but still has a unique flavor profile. The initial impression is sweet and caramel but then it comes on strong with a spicy bite and peppery finish. A great overall whiskey with a dedicated nod to outdoorsman and fishermen everywhere.
The Orca Printed Oak Wood Grain Barrel is the perfect way to end a day on the water. Made to look like a wood whiskey barrel (and it does!), this tumbler holds 12 ounces, is double wall and vacuum-sealed, made from stainless steel, and it keeps drinks cold like nothing else. What sets it apart for us was the screw-on lid. You don’t see many tumblers that have it and it means no chance that you spill anything from your drink. This is a perfect gift for the fisherman who also enjoys whiskey at the end of the day.
The Toadfish Stowaway folding cutting board is a truly unique item that I haven’t seen before. It makes filleting fish and cutting bait on the go (be sure to follow local Fish and Wildlife regulations) a much easier task. You also don’t have to carry a massive cutting board or put knife marks in your kayak or boat. The folding sections are held together with titanium screws and it includes a two stage knife sharpener. This is quite literally the best designed fillet system I have ever seen for fishermen.
Every angler needs a good pair of pliers. These in particular are affordable and more importantly durable. They are made of corrosion-resistant stainless steel, have multi-functions jaws, and a rubber handle so you don’t lose your grip with you’re out on a kayak. They also come with a sheath and lanyard for extra security.
We’ve also written about this knife before, but it is the top choice kayak fishing knife. It is a Salt version by Spyderco which means it will never rust and it has the patented Spyderco serrations which are just wicked sharp and useful. I keep this one clipped to my life vest at all times. Have you even read our article about how one of us got wrapped up in anchor lines and tipped over? Knives are crucial.
